Cranfield is a small to medium sized settlement located approximately five miles east of Milton Keynes.  It has a population of around 5,000 and is home to Cranfield University and Cranfield Technology Park, which has and continues to be developed by the University to encourage knowledge based companies to locate their activities on site and grow them.  Bellway Homes asked us to develop a masterplan for a new residential scheme at Willow Green on the outskirts of the village.

This new development at Willow Green has provided 135 new two, three and four bedroom homes and two bedroom apartments, with 30% being offered as affordable housing.  The site delivers eighteen dwellings per hectare, which sits comfortably within the rural context of Cranfield.  The scheme offers countryside living within close reach of Milton Keynes and Bedford, whilst addressing local housing needs and sustainability in all its forms.

The design was developed to ensure it successfully accorded with both the local and national planning policy and responded positively to the guidance offered through the pre-application process with the local authority.
