A Reserved Matters application for a mixed use scheme, incorporating 206 new homes and commercial space, was prepared and submitted on behalf of Taylor Wimpey Ltd for sites one and two of the Kingsmead South development in Milton Keynes.
The design responds to the principles established by the outline consent and site constraints, adopting the guidelines and principles set out in the Kingsmead South Design Code and those strategies formulated by the code.
In developing the design, a series of public consultation events were held, giving local people an opportunity to view and comment on the proposals for the site. Close consultation with the local Planning Authority throughout also contributed to a successful planning outcome in October 2015.
The scheme provides a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five bedroom houses., incorporating 30% affordable and 70% private sale. The affordable element will be a mix of shared ownership and rental homes. Retail space will also be provided as part of the new development.
All dwellings will conform to Lifetime Homes Standards and the Code for Sustainable Homes. This ensures all homes will be flexible and adaptable through thoughtful design, creating better living environments for everyone.
