This consented scheme is for a new contemporary house situated within the garden of an existing property. The house sits within the hillside to create a partially earth sheltered dwelling. As a result of the topography, the house is upside down, with the entrance at road level and the main living and sleeping areas below. A key principle of the design was to maximise the enjoyment of the wonderful views of the river valley. The Southern facade is largely fenestrated with balconies and terraces which open off the living spaces. The house is designed to be highly sustainable.
