This redundant farmyard site lies within the conservation area and comprised concrete hardstanding and large modern barns, adjacent to listed buildings.

The new development respects the existing qualities but enhances the location by the creation of a more appropriate form and scale of building, using traditional materials. The design, based on five dwellings and limited parking, creates a sensitive and appropriate response to the requirements of both PPS3 and the conservation area. The types of houses allow for families to live and work at home in a village that provides services including schooling, leisure facilities and shopping. The proposals therefore offer an appropriate and sustainable approach to living and working within an established and attractive community.
