I know we are in the process of getting a quote from you regarding the next stage of works, but before we proceed with anything further I would really like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU for all of your hard work and efforts over the past few years in getting this design over the line.

To us this has been a long road so far and a very daunting one. We have, and do still feel like rabbits in headlights most of the time, but you have been a wonderful support and guider. We knew from our first meeting that you had the creativity, vision and above all patience that we needed to make this contemporary pipe dream a reality. The final design is 100% nailed and we LOVE it.

You were amazing at the planning meeting, you were prepared, relaxed and professional and made it obvious that there really was not any reason to reject the proposal.

We were looking for architectural assistance with regard design options for replacement of an existing 1950's detached house. The objective was to achieve outline planning approval to maximise plot sale value and to achieve this quickly. 

After an abortive engagement with a niche architecture practice (where designs were unrealistic and would not have secured planning approval or worse, incurred significant costs & delay), we approached DCa. We found this company to quickly understand the brief and work with Planning and other advisors to get a plan approved. They took control, provided sound advice, and explained in detail what options were available to us and what decisions were required. Hurdles e.g. bats in situ were overcome with specialist advice. 

Specifically we found Chris Terelinck to be excellent in the role of managing this project, keeping us informed, and to get the desired outcome within a 6 month time frame. I would certainly use this company again.

We're not all that good in the UK at commenting on when things have gone well, us Brits are far more comfortable to complain, but Sarah and I think thanks should be given when it's deserved.

From when we asked you to join us for the first time in Grendon and presented you with the Chapel that we were in the process of purchasing, we believe you've been brilliant in assisting us with the initial stages of the project. It was certainly a complete change from what we'd envisaged as the project we'd be embarking on, not quite the new build we were thinking of.

In particular we've been really pleased with the evolution of our ideas with your input - what we started with was a tall order; we were looking back recently at just how many rooms we were trying to fit in on the ground floor to the Chapel to begin with. It's been great to see the translation of both our requirements and our 'wish list' come to fruition in plans that we think will work really well with the life we intend to live (even if that is with space for 20 seater dining table that's infrequently used!).

We also think the work you did with Kate at the Planning Office made a big difference to getting to the outcome we were looking for. We're not convinced that had we attended the meeting on site with her and the Conservation Officer on our own, we would have been able to put forward the persuasive arguments as effectively as you were able to; having people in the know certainly helps!

Your support's been really appreciated and we've no doubt we'll still bug you for your opinion during the coming stages.

Commissioning you as our architects for our Granary Barn project in Weston Underwood was one of the best decisions we made. We still love what you created. The design perfectly meets our needs and all the space gets used. We feel very lucky.

We only recently procured an overhead picture of the final project. Taken in the Summer of 2017. We thought you might appreciate a copy. We’ve since slated the shed roof. A finishing touch we couldn’t quite afford at the time of the build.

We recently used DCa architects for a land development project. They were recommended to us based on their experience and knowledge and I would be happy to recommend them to others.

They were extremely knowledgeable and created some great designs and supporting materials to create our planning application.

Chris Terelinck was given the task of designing a property to enable me to obtain planning consent on a piece of ground I owned in Grange Road Blunham. The plot of ground was a triangular shape, wedged in between two other large houses, not the easiest of areas. The only brief I gave was I needed to retain my access road to further land, also, that the planning would not be easy as this was a sensitive site outside the village development envelope.

Chris designed a contemporary home that suggested the agricultural heritage of the area. His design was sympathetic to the surrounding and extremely well thought out. It took account of both other properties and allowed for all to retain their privacy. Chris's help with the planning application was invaluable to me and the advice he gave throughout was of a very professional manner.  He helped me source an excellent team to take the planning process through to a very successful outcome and for that I am very grateful. His manner and advice are of the highest professional standard that anybody could expect from a practice such as DCa. I actively advise anyone I know who seeks an architect for a project such as mine to DCa because of this experience.

We commissioned DCa to design a substantial private dwelling of more than 4,000 square feet in Olney. The commission included outline design, planning negotiation and permission, detailed design and project administration.  We were extremely happy with the service provided by DCa. The staff were technically very competent, a fact which was proven by the successful conclusion of what was a very challenging design brief.  During the build programme we felt fully supported by DCa who were very prompt in resolving the inevitable site issues.  We have no reservation in recommending DCa.

As we are coming to the end of our project we thought it would be timely to drop you a note to express our thanks to the staff at DCa for the service provided over the past 2 years.  In particular your help at the beginning of the project in drawing up plans and helping us gain planning approval which went much more smoothly than either of us anticipated.

Subsequently the project was handled by Alistair and we would like you to pass on our thanks for his diligence, professionalism and determination to see our project completed on time, on budget and to an extremely high standard.  Alistair approached the project with enthusiasm, creativity and with a desire to see our once dilapidated house become a home we could be truly proud of.  Alistair has at times had to manage the relationship between ourselves and the builder, but has always acted in our best interests and communicated fully at all times. It has been a pleasure working with him.  Should we ever be in need of an architect in the future we will of course be in touch – though my next project will be my retirement one!

The main reactions people have when they come into our new home is either  “WOW!” or stunned silence, both of which are very gratifying, because that is how we feel every day!  We absolutely love our new home – designed with us and our lifestyle very much in mind; it really is our dream home.

We firmly believe that the outcome would not have been so impressive without the vision and support of DCa.   We had a very simple brief, a home for us, our pets and our books – and the finished product is all that and so much more- our forever home – beautiful, individual, comfortable. The conversion of the barn is sympathetic and stunning at the same time.

Doing a self-build project is a daunting experience and full of pit falls for the layman.  We relied on the professionalism, knowledge and experience of DCa throughout the whole process.  Working with them gave us access to a range of advice, guidance and knowledge that helped us hugely and made the process much easier.  We really couldn’t have done it without them.

We know much more about converting and building a home now than we did at the start of the process.  One thing we remain convinced of is that we made the right decision working with DCa and if we were ever in the same position again, then we would look forward to working with them again”.

Chris and David provided excellent design and project management on our plans for new residential and commercial properties. It was especially notable due to the challenges of a rural setting.

I have known David in a professional capacity for many years and the practice have assisted in progressing a number of primarily retail projects over that period.

You referred specifically to Cavendish Arcade Buxton which was probably the most challenging scheme both in terms of securing the necessary permissions/consents and managing the project to completion.

Cavendish Arcade formed part of The Crescent development originally developed by The Duke of Devonshire in the 19th Century being part Grade one and part Grade two listing. The Arcade was originally the Thermal Spa Baths and was converted to retail in the mid 1980’s. When we acquired the building it was in need of a major restoration and reconfiguration protecting the essence of the original features whilst taking a sensitive approach to our proposals. David represented us in a series of discussions with the local planning authority, the local community and particularly the conservation officer. Our proposals required a number of high level meetings with interested parties and David provided a high standard of professionalism and quality presentation materials throughout. Planning consent and listed building consent was secured and the outcome and works carried out were very successful and came in on budget and without undue delay. Project Management was complicated by having to undertake most of the work whilst a number of existing tenants remained trading. Overall one of the development projects I am most proud of in my property career.

David and his team also undertook a number of other market town open shopping centre upgrades for us at Cornwall Place Buckingham and schemes in St. Neots, Syston nr Leicester and Bakewell Derbyshire.

We have continued to work on other projects and I have every confidence in their organisation and professional skill sets.
